Hey Friends! Looking for cute and EASY Halloween costume ideas for teachers?!
Here are costume ideas for teachers, all based off of book characters! I have even included links to some of the costume pieces that I wore!
Halloween Costume ideas for teachers:
If you Give a Mouse a Cookie!
This teacher costume has a hand-made tail, ears, and cookie created from felt! The overalls were purchased from amazon here. They are SUPER comfy and the tail is sewed right on! I also wore white converse shoes, and added a straw to my front pocket. I always read the book aloud so the students can make a connection to my costume and this particular story was great for sequencing and re-telling!
Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons!
For this halloween costume idea, the head piece, tail, and buttons were all created from felt! Pete’s tail was sewed towards the bottom of the shirt. The shirt, converse shoes and blue leggings were purchased from amazon!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar!
Next, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” went perfectly with my “Bug Theme Classroom!” This costume features the same red high top converse from the Pete the Cat costume! Other pieces of the costume include, brown leggings and a dark green swing dress. The stripes on the dress and head piece were hand-made with felt! The hungry caterpillar pieces were from a felt board story set.
Junie B. Jones!
Growing up, I LOVED these chapter books! I have seen many variations of this costume (different bows, different cardigans). I did a combination of book covers I have seen! The purple colored cardigan was one I owned, and star “buttons” made from felt were sewed on. The socks, skirt, glasses and shoes were all purchased from online! The headband was made by taking a thin headband and tying a big bow on! To give myself short hair I tucked it all under and pinned it. It was so fun!
I LOVE Halloween and have grown to love it even more by brainstorming my costume to wear to school each year! I love using children’s books as my inspiration and the children love seeing us get into the Halloween holiday with them!
