*Please note that all these crafts can be done for a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, etc. There are so many family dynamics and it is always important to consider those families that are present in your classroom! I always change the wording to meet that important person in all student’s lives.
Virtual Learning Mother’s Day Gift ideas:
- Create a hand print bouquet! Have the children trace and decorate their hand. When finished they can staple, or tape the hand to a straw or pipe cleaner, then attach a leaf! To add an extra touch, tie it with a ribbon or string!
In the classroom I created a spring bulletin board, by adding “grass” to the board and placing their hand print flowers through out! It looked so cute and added an individual touch!
2. Directed flower drawing! All your students need is a pencil, paper and a black crayon or marker to outline their drawing! First, complete each step of the drawing one at a time, while your students follow along! Students can color and decorate the picture on their own later on. It may also help to have a finished product example to display, colors and all! Check out some ideas here.
3. Mother’s Day Cards! First, teach the students how to fold the card. Then, create a cover message together (Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!). Next, have the students create a message inside, sign their name and decorate!
Last, you could have the students ask an adult to put the card in the mailbox, or some place special for their Mom to find.
4. Mommy and Me Drawing! This would be similar to a directed drawing! All your students will need are paper, crayons and a pencil. Next, you will walk the students through how to first begin drawing their mom, and then drawing them. Think of this drawing to be from the shoulders up. I have included an example of mine below, outline only.
